Data Submission Format
iTAG follows the data standards and templates laid out by the Ocean Tracking Network (OTN). Three core data submission forms are needed:
- Project metadata form - this form needs to be submitted to initiate a new project
- Deployment metadata form - this form documents locations, deployment dates, and associated data for deployed equipment, including accoustic receivers, range test tags, and environmental sensors
- Tag metadata form - this form contains information about tagged animals

In addition to the metadata forms, the raw detection data need to be submitted. For Vemco/Innovasea-branded receivers, the .vrl files can be zipped and uploaded to the project repository folders in this portal.
Data Submission Frequency
Data can and should be submitted anytime. Three times a year, OTN performs data verifiation and matches detections across its nodes - these are referred to as "data pushes". There are data submission deadlines for these data pushes. The deadline to submit data for the last data push in 2025 is October 1st. However, submitting data well ahead of this deadline ensures there is sufficient time to resolve any data errors, inconsistencies, or gaps.
